The Starting Point Document

Your new Facilitator Guide is:

  • Logically Organized into two main sections:

    • Introductory Materials - to help the instructors prepare

    • Modules & Lessons - to contain the instructional content & directions facilitators will use to deliver the training program

  • Professionally formatted with a Cover page, a Table of Contents, page headers & footers, section breaks, page breaks and styles.

You will Notice

  • Word’s non-printing formatting marks are showing.

  • There are places where text is highlighted in yellow.

  • There are at least 11 pages in your new Facilitator Guide and at least 7 pages in your new Participant Guide.

  • The pages all have content on them already.

  • The pages sometimes also have empty space on a page.

  • Just about all of the default text is sitting in table rows.

The Lesson Pages

You will be doing most of your work on the Lesson pages. They are designed to:

  • provide icon-driven at-a-glance directions for your instructor through the use of Content Blocks, which are table rows

  • logically lay out what needs to be said & done to teach the class

  • provide brief summary direction statements for experienced facilitators via the Content Block headline text

  • and include details instructions for all facilitators - to ensure consistent delivery in the Content Block body

All You Need to Do

Follow this process on the Lesson pages:

  • Add Content Blocks to your Lesson pages from the Content Blocks group (1) LeaderGuide Pro ribbon

  • Type or paste in content as needed.

  • To Paste, use the Paste Special button (2) in the Text/Table Formatting group on the LGPro ribbon

  • To change the appearance of the font, use the text, bulleting and numbering buttons (3) in the Text/Table Formatting group on the LGPro ribbon

Remember

L&D professionals use LeaderGuide Pro to:

  • Ensure consistency

  • Reduce the time it takes to build training materials

  • Build professionally formatted materials that are easy to use

To reap these benefits you must use LeaderGuide Pro, not Word, to build your guidebooks. Word is the platform LeaderGuide Pro runs within, so while you have access to Word when using LeaderGuide Pro, please let LeaderGuide Pro automate & leverage Word for you.

Best Practice

Resist the urge to start deleting things or manually changing the look of the document.

  • This will defeat the purpose of using LeaderGuide Pro and it may negatively impact the functioning of the LeaderGuide Pro software.

  • You can change the look & feel with a mouse click after you create a custom Collection, which you can do once you have a fundamental understanding of just how much LeaderGuide Pro handles for you.

  • Add a short summary or a list of helpful resources here.
